This is an art history teaching resource that includes a graphic organizer and a worksheet.
Students will learn how to summarize and organize information regarding art historical movements, periods and cultures using this note-taking page. This page has areas for date, location, title and style/conventions. It also includes media/art forms.
This Worksheet:
- My college Art History class required me to print a brochure at the beginning each semester. It contained all of our topics for the entire semester. The booklet was then used as a guideline. Students turned the booklets in at the end to earn extra credit for the final exam.
- A non-Western art assignment can be given to students. You can also give students a page with blank notes and encourage them to conduct research on a particular culture. Then ask them for their notes and then turn it in.
- Students should work together in small groups after a lesson about a subject.
- After completing a homework assignment on art history, have students complete one page.
- This document can be used as a plan document to help you prepare for your research paper.
- Use as a quiz, self-check, or test assessing student’s understanding about the topic.

When we’re studying art history at high school, this is what I use most often. The book is detailed, but it’s presented in an entertaining format.
