K-pop makes my children crazy! How better to celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month? With a engaging lesson about K-Pop, one of today’s most popular music genres in the world.

K-Pop stands for Korean Pop music. This genre is huge in Asia, and growing rapidly everywhere else thanks to PSY’s Gangnam Style. However, what are we actually able to know about Korea and its music?

http://bit.ly/kpopnew2(*()This lesson touches briefly on geography and the history of the country, including recent news items (as of May 2018) There is a competent of traditional music including the gayageum & samulnori, but the focus on modern K-Pop has students watching and rating up to 8 contemporary music videos based on the groups’ singing, dancing, and fashion. Students learn six different K-Pop dance moves, and then race in an exciting relay race with help from a video tutorial. It’s great for K-Pop lovers and also works well as a standalone unit. This lesson is fun and festive and can be used to incorporate music, history, world history and social studies into the classroom.This unit includes:
