Drama Unit – INTRODUCTION TO DRAMA (6 x 50 minute drama lessons) – NO PREP!

THIS IS NOT A RANDOM DRAMA GAME! The curriculum-aligned Introduction to Drama unit includes 6 x 50-minute detailed lesson plans that can be taught in double periods. This will give students a strong start to their drama studies. This unit is also useful for relearning foundation skills and establishing a new one. The unit covers basic drama skills that are essential for successful studying in drama. NO PREPARERATION IS REQUIRED You will find everything in this drama-teaching resource.

Although this unit includes drama games, it’s not just a random collection of games that are tossed together in order to create a unit. It is an intentional collection of curriculum-aligned learning activities and drama games designed to help students develop foundation drama skills. There are short homework assignments included in the lessons.

Timing is important. You might prefer some activities to be completed slower than stated. You have many options to create dynamic classes. I purposely packed this unit with options for extensions activities.

Included:

– Six 50-minute lessons. Can be divided into two periods.

Homework tasks that are simple and quick

UNIT AIMS: This class introduces students to basic games and techniques in drama.

Students will be introduced to the various drama techniques such as freeze frame, tableaux and thought tracking. They also learn how to use narration and drama cannons.

Through improvisational drama games, students are taught how to accept, block, build, and endow.

Students create freeze frames for their personal stories

Drama vocabulary will be taught to students.

Great information. My remote learners didn’t like some lessons. The current format is pdf. It would be great if the lesson could also include Google slides. A few of the lessons were too young for 8th-graders.

My class has a lot of behavior issues, so we couldn’t do many activities. But the ones that we could do the students loved!
