Hoedown Showdown: Elementary Music Concert

Students in the 1st-3rd grades can use this musical program. Last year I was able to do it with my second graders and we had a lot of fun! It was an excellent show that kicked off the concert season. The parents, students and faculty were all very pleased with it.

Rhyming is used for all speaking parts and they segue to the next song. This is a sample script.

Bluegrass music was brought to life by the use of traveling instruments, such as the banjo or the fiddle, and other stringed instruments.

Please note that this product does not include sheet music. The best thing about this program? Songs can easily be modified, added to, or taken from your existing classroom library. You should know that I’m not the one who created the songs in the program. However, the scripts and other fun additions are mine. Many of these songs come from the Spotlight Currciulum. Spotlight does not require you to have Spotlight. The majority of the songs are available online free, or in folksong collection books like 150 American Folksongs.
