Sugar skulls play an important part in a celebration called The Day of the Dead, or El Día de los Muertos. Mexico and Latin America celebrate the Day of the Dead each November 1, 2 and 3. For decoration purposes, people make sugar skulls for competitions and to give to the spirits.
